Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Dandelion infused oil
  • 1 Oz Shea Butter (Refined)
  • 1 Oz Beeswax
  • 10-15 Drops Essential Oils Lavender, orange

Instructions

Dandelion oil

  • Put the dried dandelion flowers into a jar of any size (you can make as much or as little as you want) and cover them with the carrier oil of your choice.
  • If you use coconut oil, it's helpful to melt it first, or use the hot extraction method. Let your dandelion oil sit in a dark place for 2-3 weeks, but not too much longer than that as it can spoil pretty quickly.
  • Strain out the flowers using a fine mesh strainer and a clean cheese cloth.
  • Store the jar in a dark cool place until ready to use. Will last 9 months to a year if stored properly.

Dandelion Salve

  • Create a makeshift double boiler by putting a heat safe bowl or a glass Pyrex measuring cup over a pot with about an inch of simmering water. Make sure the water isn't directly toughing the bowl.
  • Put the dandelion oil, beeswax and shea butter into bowl or Pyrex. Heat until its all dissolved, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in the essential oils if using.
  • Carefully pour the mixture into small jars or tins and let sit until the salve sets up completely.

Notes

This makes 12 ounces, or 6 2 oz tins.
