Hello, welcome to The Sprouting Homestead!
I created this blog to document our journey of living a simple, self sufficient life.
The name “The Sprouting Homestead” signifies where we are now, and where we would like to be. Like a seed, it must first germinate, start small and grow big.
We bought our first home together in 2020, a cute 3 bedroom in the city. We quickly realized this would not be our forever home, we wanted more space, more privacy, and less neighbors haha!
We are on a journey to finish our current home and purchase an acreage outside of town, so I can have the garden of my dreams, chickens, start our family, and space for Bailey; our Great Pyrenees to run free!
I went to culinary school for 3 years, and worked in the food industry for a long time. I love food, I care about where it comes from, how it’s grown and how it’s made. Having scratch made, chemical free foods in our diets is a big goal for me. As well as having a chemical free home with DIY natural cleaning products & skin care.
I thoroughly enjoy cooking, baking, preserving & gardening for my family and sharing it with all of you
